![]() You can stay out of range of the turrents and just nail them with morters till they fall and its all over. The best time to advance is right after they've tried a foray and gotten chopped up.Įventually the main base battle comes up and that's where the morter weapons shine. Then take the other two trios and work through the support bases first. I only use missile turrents at the bases for range and punch. When the tank rush comes for my base I can usually whittle them down fast enough that way, and the healer keeps everything going. Eventually you can have 3 of these sets, keeping one at the base, I hide my two fighters right behind my base turrents and the healer behind them. What I do is this: I make two robots with the Morter, 2 missiles, 2 plasma guns and then 1 robot with a morter and 4 heal wands. ![]() The trick to winning the planetary battles is in your robot mix. So if you're doing cheesy things like sniping the bots/turrets from a distance with a human-controlled mortar bot and thus forcing the AI to pay to rebuild it, it will drain their resources so they can't spend as much on things like top-level bots. The AI doesn't have inifinite resources per timeslice, only infinite resources over the entire battle. Kind of run through a quick battle on the map, if it wasn't going well restart it and use the knowledge of how the AI reacted to abuse their weaknesses the next go around. I think I also abused the "restart the battle from scratch with no penality" feature a little too much too, which is why I found it easier. Which is pretty much the opposite of how you'd play a 'modern' RTS. ![]() Basically building things to survive an ememy wave long enough with minimal casualties that the repair units could heal them up enough to survive the next wave. ![]() In general I do tend to play a very turtley defensive game minimising losses so heavy on the armour, slow chasis, repairers, and taking over the a bot to 'snipe' specific enemy targets was high on my list. It has been quite a few years since I last played the game unfortunately, but I'm looking to grab this and will hopefully remember to post here after I get a few battles in to remember the strategy. ![]()
